Bits and Bytes to Borrow (BBB)

SWFLN offers members free access to a variety of maker tech, programming kits and device labs through the free, Bits and Bytes to Borrow (BBB) lending service. Inventory includes high and low tech items, as well as many classroom sets that can be used for library programs, special projects and training. Whether you’re working on a digitization project or preparing for the next STEM program, the BBB has your library covered!

Eligibility

Employees of SWFLN Institutional Members have unlimited borrowing privileges. SWFLN Personal Affiliates are eligible to check out two items per fiscal year (October – September).

Loan Period

Most items check out for a three-week loan with one renewal, based on availability. Extended loan periods may be available. Please reach out to amy@swfln.org to request a longer loan period.

Delivered to Your Library

Free Courier Service is available to and from SWFLN Institutional Member locations. Please provide at least three days’ notice to schedule a delivery. For returns, email amy@swfln.org to schedule a courier pick-up.

Members can also arrange to personally pick-up and drop-off at the SWFLN office. Please call before you visit to ensure staff availability.

Training and Support

SWFLN staff provide limited support and training for device kits. Resource guides, supporting documents and manufacturer links are provided in most item descriptions. Borrowers are responsible for ensuring proper use and safety and may be liable for replacement costs if items are damaged.
